Eddie Hall and Tom Aspinall switched up their diets for one day to see how the other eats.
Eddie Hall teamed up with UFC champion Tom Aspinall for many videos in the past but this one was unique. Hall, who has to eat an insane amount of food daily, switched diets with Aspinall for one day.
For Aspinall, the struggle began right away with the overall quantity of food that Hall eats per day. As for the Strongman, he went through the day hungry and could have taken on much more because that’s what he is used to.
Last week, Hall spoke on his MMA fight with Mitchell Hooper being cancelled due to contract disputes. He is attempting to plan a new event with the same fighters but it will all come down to promoters. Despite this event being cancelled, Hall continues to train at a high level and have his eyes on goals moving forward.
Eddie Hall’s Full Day Of Eating
The duo began with morning cardio and a stretch in Eddie Hall’s home gym. They sat down for breakfast to share what the first meal of the day would look like.
Meal One
Each side spoke on their typical breakfast. Tom Aspinall guessed that Hall could usually eat a meal featuring carbs and high in fats. He guessed that it would feature either eggs, bacon, or steak. Hall shared that it would be smoked salmon.
Eddie Hall
- 4 Weetabix with honey
- 1 banana
- Monster energy drink
- Protein shake
Tom Aspinall
- 200g smoked salmon
- 2 slice sourdough toast with butter
- 300g cottage cheese
- 200g carrots
- 150g fruit
The two continued to discuss early-morning methods and Hall shared that he does not drink caffeine early, only water.
“I just drink water. Not in the mornings. The only time I’ll have caffeine is if I’m depleted.”
“I fuel off caffeine,” Aspinall responded.

Meal Two
The challenge for both athletes came right away after breakfast. Before meal two, Aspinall shared that he was still full from the first meal of the day while Hall expressed that he was very hungry.
Eddie Hall
- 500g yogurt
- Peanut butter
- Fruit
Tom Aspinall
- Ribeye steak and butter
- 300g rice
- 200g vegetables and butter
- Prawns
After laying out each meal, Hall asked if Aspinall always ate light.
“I usually eat light and often. That/s my thing. Usually every couple of hours but noting too heavy,” Aspinall said.
“I eat heavy and often,” Hall said.
Meal Three
The third meal did not feature food. Instead, it was how each athlete prepared for workouts. Hall took down a coffee and gifted Aspinall some of his secrets to carb load during a workout. First, it was cranberry juice followed by a shake mid-session.
Eddie Hall
- Coffee
Tom Aspinall
- Pre-workout shake
- Cranberry juice
- Intra-workout shake

Meal Four
As expected, Eddie Hall continued to finish his meals before Tom Aspinall. The Strongman finished meal four and claimed he was “still f*cking hungry.” Aspinall continued to struggle with the overall quantity of food. Despite eating multiple times a day, Aspinall keeps it light.
Eddie Hall
- Sirloin steak
- 200g vegetables
- 150g rice
Tom Aspinall
- Half a chicken
- 300g vegetables
- 200g rice
Hall’s dinners are typically served on a platter-sized dish rather than what most people are used to. The size of the plates varied in size incredibly.
“I always try to explain to people when I eat my food, everything is supersized. Now, you can appreciate a regular sized-plate,” Hall said.
“I’m not a small person…that’s an incredible amount of food,” Aspinall said.
Meal Five
The final meal of the day for each was a bit smaller but still more than Aspinall was used to. He joked that eating like this was a “full-time job” after Hall said that he would be eating 500 grams of yogurt.
Eddie Hall
- Peanut butter and jelly bagel
- Protein shake
Tom Aspinall
- 500g yogurt
- 150g blueberries
- Nighttime shake
The final calorie count of the day for Tom Aspinall was 7,450, which was over double what he usually consumes. Of course, it went the other way for Hall. He consumed 3,062 calories during this day.
