“I remember going over the bars, I remember hitting the ground, I remember my helmet saving my life.”
Abiad began by explaining how it all happened. He hit a pothole while leaning into a corner, causing the back end of the bike to pop out. After the accident, Abiad was lifted onto a stretcher and rode back down the mountain in a pickup truck before being taken to the hospital via helicopter.
Abiad’s wife, Sommer, shared a post on his behalf the day after the accident. She did not share details at the time as the focus was on Abiad’s health. She asked for privacy and respect during this time.

Fouad Abiad Returns to Show to Provide Update
Upon his arrival at the hospital, Fouad Abiad shared that he was put on a breathing tube. A nurse had to puncture his lung as well and this was one of the last things remembered from that day.
“She looks at me and she’s like ‘I’m gonna have to puncture your lung because you’re gonna die if I don’t.’ All I see is this needle and jabbing it into my f*cking chest. I think that was the last thing I remember.”
Fouad Abiad continued to explain how there was a complication while he was going under for surgery. He was forced to be put back on a vent for a couple more days. At this point, Abiad has been in the hospital over two weeks now and believes he is through the worst of it.
“Next thing I remember is waking up two days later. It was crazy. I woke up a bunch of times in the five days that I was out.”
Abiad has also been providing updates on social media, when possible. Six days ago, he shared that he had neck surgery the day before. He was up on his feet walking for the first time the very next day.
Fouad Abiad is an established IFBB Pro Bodybuilding veteran. Abiad burst onto the scene in the late 2008s and earned his first invite to the Olympia in 2008. He went on to compete in the Arnold Classic four times over the course of his career. Abiad hit his stride in 2015, when he was able to earn back-to-back victories during the Europa Supershow and Vancouver Pro. Abiad injured his tricep, which kept him off the stage initially. He ended up battling kidney issues and this ultimately ended his career.
