Bodybuilding legend Frank Zane shared his secrets to strengthening muscles that progress at a slower rate.

Frank Zane is known as one of the greatest bodybuilders of all-time. He built an aesthetically-pleasing physique that showed great symmetry and led to many victories. In a recent Instagram post, Zane shares his tips on how to build a proportionate physique by training muscles that progress at a slower rate.

“You will probably find that certain parts of your body improve faster than other parts.”

On Tuesday, Zane gave out three tips on how to train weaker muscles:

  • Working weak points first in your workout when your energy, strength, and attention are greatest
  • Doing more sets with heavier weights for areas lagging in development
  • Working unresponsive body parts two days in succession, resting on the third day, and then training it two more days in succession

Zane made his pro debut in 1961 at the Mr. Pennsylvania contest and went on to win the Olympia title three times, from 1977 to 1979. He also won IFBB Mr. Universe in 1965 and is a two-time winner of the IFBB Mr. America title. He was inducted into the Joe Weider Hall of Fame in 1994.

Frank Zane Talks Improving Weaker Muscles

Frank Zane explained how he uses different different exercises when training muscles multiple days in a row.

“For example, if I’m working shoulders, I might do press behind neck, upright rowing and bent-over lateral raise the first day, and dumbbell press, side dumbbell raise, and rear incline raise the following day.”

Zane used this method when training for a competition because he believes results come as soon as a month later.

“This method can be used with any body part but shouldn’t be continued for longer than one month. After a month you should be able to make the progress, you desire.

I often use this method when training for an exhibition or competition and some body part isn’t responding as l’d like it to.”

Frank Zane continues to share his wisdom at 82 years old. He is one of the all-time greats and someone who knows how to build the perfect physique.
