Hafthor Bjornsson keeps resetting the bar and might not be done just yet.
Strongman Hafthor Bjornsson continues to show why he is one of the strongest men on the planet.
On Saturday, Thor competed at the 2025 World Deadlift Championships and set his sights on resetting the bar once again. He did just that by setting a new world record with a 510kg (1,124.4lb) deadlift at Utilita Arena in Birmingham, England.

Bjornsson stepped up to the bar with a deadlift suit and lifting straps as allowed by Strongman. He used a conventional stance and got in position to begin his lift. Thor began his process and made a new world record lift look easy as he did not struggle to lock out a lift that no one has before.
Bjornsson has now broken his record for the second time. He previously held the record at 501 kilograms (1,104.5 pounds) after breaking Eddie Hall’s mark. In July, Thor took it up another notch with a 505 kilogram (1,113.3lb) lift. He quickly set his sights on this attempt at 510kg. So, this begs the question — what is next for Hafthor Bjornsson?

Hafthor Bjornsson Ready for Next Step
Thor made this lift look easy and that means he has plenty more in the tank. After his victory and record-setting lift, Bjornsson confirmed this notion and set a potential lofty goal for himself.
“The sky’s the limit. This felt extremely comfortable guys, and I believe I can take this right into 550. What do you think?”
Hafthor Bjornsson is one of the all-time great Strongmen and has proven it time and time again. Hafthor Bjornsson is a former World’s Strongest Man champion in 2018. He has competed in some of the top events in the sport and raised the trophy. This includes three victories during the Arnold Strongman Classic and five Europe’s Strongest Man victories. He is coming off his 12th victory at the Iceland’s Strongest Man competition.
Bjornsson continues to raise the bar and is doing it with an extreme amount of weight added on. If that continues, he has a chance to reach some heights that no one will touch for quite some time — and that means 550kg could be on the horizon for Thor.
