Hafthor Bjornsson looks insanely strong hitting some massive back squat numbers.

Looking to once again dominate powerlifting, Hafthor Bjornsson is building insane strength using massive back squats. Having tried his hand at boxing, “The Mountain” now happens to make a triumphant return to strength sports and show the world he’s still one of the strongest humans in recorded history.

Powerlifting is all about building overall strength. While there may not be many events at a powerlifting meet, it’s the mastery of the three classic lifts that makes the sport so engaging. It’s getting the squat, bench press, and deadlift mastered to art form. Hafthor Bjornsson has already shown what he could do with the deadlift. Now “The Mountain” hopes to dominate in each category. As Bjornsson preps for his next powerlifting meet we can see that he’s improving his strength in each lift. In particular we see Bjornsson focusing on the number one compound movement in lifting.

The King of Exercises

If you’re looking to build solid strength and muscle there is one movement that is the best of them all. The squat is pound for pound the best of exercise out there. The compound movement works multiple muscles in the body, both big and small. While it may be known mostly as a leg day exercise, the squat also requires the utilization of the core. Pushing through the heels, into the legs and bracing the core, the squat is a total body exercise that should not be neglected.

Understanding the benefits of the barbell back squat to build overall strength, Hafthor Bjornsson has been focusing on the movement in his recent training.

One of the big three lifts, Hafthor Bjornsson has been building more and more strength in the squat. As he put up higher and higher numbers in this movement, you can bet that his overall strength is improving with every training session.
