Hunter Labrada believes the best is yet to come following a successful surgery.
Men’s Open bodybuilder Hunter Labrada has been inactive since announcing his break for the remainder of 2025. On Wednesday, Labrada took to social media to share an update on his future following a successful shoulder surgery.

In May, Labrada shared that he was done competing during the 2025 season. He believes it was time to take his first break from bodybuilding since 2016 to get right both mentally and physically. Labrada believes that he is accomplishing his goals and the best version of himself is yet to come.
“I am not done, I will be back. I will be better than I’ve ever been before.”
Labrada last competed at the 2024 Olympia. He qualified with a win at the 2024 Promuscle Italy Pro but received criticism for his physique. Labrada went into the Olympia after making improvements and finished sixth in Men’s Open. He peaked with a fourth-place finish during the 2021 Olympia. He returned to finish seventh the next year and was sixth in 2023. Many bodybuilding fans believe that Labrada is a future Olympia champion and he believes that as well.

Hunter Labrada Shares Mental & Physical Updates

Hunter Labrada has not shared much since taking a break from competition. In his latest video, Labrada shared that he has gone through “some challenges” but continues to overcome. Along with shoulder surgery, Labrada has taken time to spend with his family.
“As far as physical challenges go, I have finally gotten the shoulder procedure that I’ve needed for probably three years now.
In addition to rehabbing the shoulder and getting my head right, I’ve spent a lot of time on what matters to me, reconnecting with my family and friends. Things are firing in the gym again. Mentally, I feel refreshed.”
Hunter Labrada, who is the son of bodybuilding legend Lee Labrada, had a love football and sought to make that his dream and career. But his football dreams would be halted after suffering a serious injury, and actually ending his football career. However, he took to lifting to help his recovery and rebuild that lost strength. What he would soon find out was that he loved bodybuilding and it would grow to be a big part of him while also bringing him notoriety not only in the bodybuilding community, but on social media as well.
