Kevin Levrone shares his thoughts on posing next to Ronnie Coleman on stage.

Kevin Levrone has made it very clear in the past that there has never been nor will there likely be another Ronnie Coleman. That being said, Levrone still had to try his all to battle against the 8x Mr. Olympia champion during his competitive career. While it was almost always likely a battle for second place, Kevin Levrone was able to get a few shots in on stage. In our latest GI Exclusive Vault interview, Kevin Levrone reveals the one pose he felt that he beat Ronnie Coleman in.

We’ve spoken to other pro bodybuilders about the experience of competing on stage against Ronnie Coleman. In our latest extended interview pulled from the cutting room floor of Ronnie Coleman: The King – Kevin Levrone shares his personal experience battling The King.

There’s no doubting that anyone competing side by side with Ronnie Coleman had their work cut out for them. Kevin Levrone admitted that nearly every time Ronnie competed at the Olympia, everyone else was battling for second place. That being said, Kevin Levrone feels like there was one mandatory pose he could defeat Ronnie Coleman with on stage.

The pose in question was the side chest. Specifically, Kevin Levrone mentions that it was the one pose he could overpower Ronnie Coleman in even when Ronnie was looking at his best. But one pose does not win a bodybuilding competition. With a chuckle under his breath, Levrone admits that there was no other pose he could beat Ronnie in. “Other than that he was just on another level man,” Levrone states in our extended interview.

It’s that kind of competitive spirit that was needed to face against Ronnie Coleman. You couldn’t just accept defeat, you had to bite and scratch for every inch of victory you can muster. For Kevin Levrone, it was that epic side chest pose.

Kevin Levrone also speaks to the legacy of Ronnie Coleman beyond his specific era. Levrone talks about how he was blessed to be a part of that pack of bodybuilders. As previously stated, Ronnie helped push him and other peers to new levels. Beyond that, Ronnie also inspired future generations to push boundaries as well.

According to Kevin Levrone, there’s no doubt about it. Ronnie Coleman permanently changed the sport of bodybuilding. By all accounts, it seems like Levrone is right on the money with that statement.
