Ronnie Coleman Looks Strong Training Arms in Home Gym

Jon Salmon Managing Editor Generation Ironby Jonathan Salmon Updated by Dylan Wolf on Nov 13, 2022

Ronnie Coleman is training arms like a beast in quarantine.

Ronnie Coleman is nothing less than a beast of a man. To this day, he is one of the most massive and impactful bodybuilders to ever compete. Ronnie Coleman was always cut and impressive shape on stage. Coleman’s size and conditioning was something that no one had ever seen before, and changed the sport of bodybuilding forever. There was a good reason that he took the crown at the Mr. Olympia contest 8 times.

Unfortunately, his training took a turn when he was injured during his 800lb barbell squat. While he may have suffered through many injuries and his abilities in the gym may not be what they once were, Coleman still is training hard.

Over the past few years since covid started, the ability to train for a bodybuilder is more paramount than ever. We have seen gyms shut down for periods of time, go out of business, restrict the abilities of members, and so on. While some have had to use creative methods to train, or utilize fully at-home workouts, Ronnie Coleman is lucky enough to have his own home gym.

While quarantined at home Ronnie Coleman is still training arms like a savage.

Ronnie Coleman Overview

Say one thing for Ronnie Coleman, say he never slows down. As stated before he was crowned Mr. Olympia 8 times, earning him the title, Ronnie Coleman “The King.” That title is certainly something that has stuck, and his mindset and work ethic have helped uphold that reputation.

Ronnie was originally a police officer in Arlington, Texas, and needed to workout. It was when he entered Metroflex that he truly got into bodybuilding. Coleman was a powerlifter before, and played football, but bodybuilding was foreign to him at the time.

The owner of Metroflex, Brian Dobson, had offered Ronnie a free membership if he allowed Dobson to train him for the Mr. Texas bodybuilding show that year. Coleman agreed and the rest is history.

The Competitions

Which Olympias belong to Ronnie Coleman? Well, he was the reigning champ from the year 1998 all the way through 2005. It was not until 2006 when he was dethroned by Jay Cutler, who had been creeping up on him for the years before that.

Other than the Mr. Olympia contests, Ronnie Coleman had competed in and won many other pro shows. In total, Coleman has obtained 26 wins as an IFBB pro. This is right behind Dexter “The Blade” Jackson, who has 29 wins as an IFBB Pro, including the 2008 Mr. Olympia.

Coleman’s track record is thoroughly impressive, and definitely something admirable. He had changed the sport with the size and conditioning that he brought to the stage. It was something never seen before. Jay Cutler has stated that his win against Coleman in 2006 was not satisfying, because it “was not the best version of Ronnie.”

Believe it or not, during his time competing as a professional bodybuilder, Ronnie Coleman was still working as a police officer. He has stated that the department had good insurance, which is something he wanted to keep. Being a full time bodybuilder as well as a police officer must be hard, but Coleman did it!

Ronnie’s Injury

While Coleman is still training pretty hard for what he is capable of doing, it certainly is hard to see The King struggle to move around and push weight like he did during his competition era. It was the 800lb squat that originally started the string of surgeries ultimately limiting his mobility.

During an attempt at an 800lb squat, which was more than an attempt because he hit it for two reps, Coleman herniated a disc. This resulted in a string of surgeries on his back. To date, Ronnie has had 13 surgeries on his entire neck and back, and he almost ended up paralyzed as a result all of them.

However, today he does show to be doing alright. Although not where he once was, he certainly still gets in good workouts and is maintaining some quality muscle. Coleman has stated that he does have the urge to workout all the time. When asked if he regretted what happened, he stated that he wished he hit that 800lb squat for 5 reps instead of 3. That is a king mindset.

Ronnie’s Supplements

As many are aware, Ronnie Coleman The King is known for his signature quote ‘Yeah Buddy’ and today has some of the strongest dietary supplements on the market that we’ve seen. With over 400 milligrams per serving, Ronnie’s YEAH BUDDY Preworkout contains 40 milligrams TeaCrine® and 100 milligrams of Dynamine.  Similar caffeine the blend contains Encapfeine, which is caffeine that’s been wrapped in micro-beads with varying layers.

It achieves the goal of slowly releasing over the course of a workout, so the product doesn’t have quite the sudden spike in energy that you might assume. It offers an entire new level of pre workout for high level athletes.

Wrap Up

Ronnie Coleman wasn’t an eight-time Olympia champion for nothing. Covid may have stopped many people from living their lives but not Coleman. “The King” never misses an opportunity to train and now is no different.

Despite numerous surgeries and limited mobility, Coleman is still putting in work in the gym. What’s your excuse?
