Russel Orhii completed an 821.2-pound squad which is a new PR.

Powerlifter Russel Orhii has become known as oneof the top competitors in the world. He often shows off major lifts during training sessions, including unofficial world-record triumphs. On Wednesday, he shared one more as he completed an 372.5kg (821.2lb) squat during training, which is a new PR and unofficial IPF world record.

Orhii holds the official record of 355.5kg (783.7lb), which was achieved in August. Now, he has bigger plans for his next competition and has shown that he can exceed his previous marks.

“I’ve finally acquired the 7th red on squat. It’s crazy because this was the tamed version of what I feel like I can do. There’s still more work to do and things to correct. I have a little over 2 weeks to make things official. Jobs not finished.”

Orhii stepped up to the bar with a lifting belt, knee sleeves, and wrist wraps. He used a wide stance and began his lift, ending with a big smile before locking out. Orhii’s intense reaction showed that this was a lift he has been working toward and could also be a sign of things to come.

Russel Orhii Completes Insane Squat

Russel Orhii is a two-time IPF World Champion and five-time USAPL Raw National Champion. He has competed in both the IPF and USAPL over the course of his career. For world records to be official, they must come in a sanctioned competition by the organization. Despite many unofficial record lifts, Orhii has been able to break others during his career.

This lift did not take place during a competition but judging by the gap in weight, it is clear that Orhii is planning to reset his own mark.

Orhii made his return to competition during the 2025 NAPF North American Regional Powerlifting Championships in the Cayman Islands. During this competition, Orhii entered with a bodyweight of 91.8kg (202.4lb). This is where he set the official squat world record with a mark of 355.5kg (783.8lb). Orhii went onto set new competition PRs on the bench press and in deadliftsas well. It was a 210kg (463lb) bench and 360kg (793.7lb) deadlift. Add all three together and it came out to 918kg (2,023.8lb) total, which was another record in the division.

Russel Orhii won the 2021 IPF World Championship in the 83kg category and currently holds the squat and total world record. In 2021, he set some new PRs in competition and will continue to build upon these numbers. This includes a 323kg (712.1lb) squat and 843kg (1,858lb) total during the 2021 USAPL Raw Nationals. During the 2021 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships, Orhii completed a 333kg (734.1lb) deadlift. His bench press competition PR came back in 2019 with a 195kg (429.9lb) lift.

Orhii has experience as a bodybuilder as well. In 2022, he took a short break from powerlifting and set a goal to compete as a bodybuilder. Now, he is back to moving an incredible amount of weight in the gym.
