Samson Dauda says Nick Walker is ‘Always A Threat’ With Olympia Showdown Set

Nick Walker‘s dominant victory at the 2026 Tampa Pro reminded the bodybuilding world why “The Mutant” remains one of the sport’s biggest stars. While some fans and analysts continue to debate whether Walker has what it takes to win Mr. Olympia, one of his biggest rivals isn’t buying into the skepticism. Following Walker’s emphatic Tampa Pro performance, Samson Dauda made it clear that Nick Walker “is still a threat” and remains one of the most dangerous competitors in the Open division, regardless of what critics may say.

Samson Dauda: “Nick Is Always A Threat”

When asked how much of a threat Walker will be heading into the 2026 Mr. Olympia, Dauda didn’t hesitate with his response.

“The same threat he’s always been. He’s always been a threat.”

Dauda explained that competitors who consistently earn first callouts at the Olympia deserve respect, noting that no one reaches the top level of bodybuilding by accident.

“The top guys in the Olympia, we’ve been there for a reason because each and every one of us is a threat.”

The Nigerian star also believes fans are often too quick to dismiss elite competitors after a single disappointing performance.

“How would you guys count us out? When one person has a bad showing, you guys automatically think, ‘Oh, that’s it. It’s over.’ And yet they’re still coming back harder the next time.”

For Dauda, Walker’s résumé alone is enough to ensure he is never overlooked.

“Nick is always a threat. You don’t ever look down on anybody that can make it to the Olympia and be that threatening, or who has won an Arnold. Come on, man.”

Walker’s Tampa Pro Win Sent A Statement

Dauda’s comments came just days after Walker steamrolled the competition at the Tampa Pro to punch his ticket to the 2026 Mr. Olympia.

The former Arnold Classic champion showcased arguably his best package in years, displaying improved conditioning, a noticeably tighter waistline, and the trademark muscle density that has made him one of the most feared bodybuilders in the Open division.

Walker also appeared to make noticeable improvements to his midsection control throughout prejudging and finals, an area judges have emphasized in recent seasons.

His performance quickly reignited conversations about whether he can challenge the likes of Derek Lunsford, Hadi Choopan, Dauda, and the rest of the Olympia favorites this October.

Respect Among Olympia Contenders

Dauda’s comments also stand out because they contrast with some of the recent skepticism surrounding Walker’s Olympia chances.

Rather than focusing on Walker’s perceived weaknesses, Dauda emphasized the reality of competing at bodybuilding’s highest level: every athlete standing in the Olympia’s top group has earned that position.

Walker has already proven he can defeat many of the sport’s biggest names on bodybuilding’s biggest stages. With an Arnold Classic title on his résumé and now a commanding Tampa Pro victory under his belt, Dauda believes dismissing “The Mutant” would be a mistake.

As the countdown to the 2026 Mr. Olympia continues, one thing is clear: Nick Walker has the respect of one of his fiercest rivals, and according to Samson Dauda, that’s because he has always been a threat.
