Samson Dauda is currently preparing for the 2025 Arnold Classic. He is a former champion of the event and wants to regain his title after finishing as the runner-up to Hadi Choopan last year. Dauda defeated both Choopan and Derek Lunsford, who were the last two Olympia champions, to win this year’s title. His rise to the top has been extremely quick and he wants to keep improving moving forward.
The Arnold Classic is quickly approaching. Throughout his prep, Dauda has dealt with plenty of anxiety in hopes of remaining at the top against a loaded field.
Samson Dauda Talks Routine & Pressure In Bodybuilding
Dauda discussed how this pressure has led to hyperawareness when training but it is not all about when he is awake. Even when he attempts to sleep, he remains aware.
“I don’t sleep anymore. When I sleep, I’m aware. It’s like being on too much caffeine. Can’t switch off, overthink everything.”
The presence of a routine helps any individual relieve stress over the course of their days, especially with a packed schedule. For bodybuilders, this is essential as they must juggle multiple meals per day while following a strict workout plan to create the best physique possible.
Dauda had his mentality shaken up when he was given meals and told to take naps. This took more stress off his plate so he could relax more.
“I remember thinking, ‘my God, this is the best I ever looked.’ Nothing changed. It was all in my head.”
With the great prestige also comes the scrutiny from fans. Dauda shared how many comments are negative following a physique update or show. This is where he must turn off his attention but it is hard at times.
“The last thing you need to do is get on your phone and see what’s being said about you because that will tear your apart. There’s nothing more personal than your physical body. People will judge and break it down.”
Samson Dauda is days away from taking the stage at the 2025 Arnold Classic, looking to continue his momentum from the Olympia. He will be the name to beat as the competition begins.
