Shaun Clarida is one month post-Arnold Classic and is back in the gym taking on a new training program. After his performance in Columbus, Clarida shared that he has started working under the guidance of John Jewett in the gym.
Clarida finished seventh in Men’s Open during the 2025 Arnold Classic. Following the show, he took time to recoup and get his tank back to neutral, both mentally and physically. It was a grueling year for Clarida as he went through prep for three shows and he took time to spend time with his family. Now that he is back training at a high level, he decided it was time to bring someone in.

“I’m at the point in my career, I decided to take my time and find the right person, someone that I felt very comfortable with. I have decided to start working with John Jewett.”
Clarida went up against Chris Bumstead and Martin Fitzwater during the 2024 EVLS Prague Pro and finished third. It was a highly-anticipated competition with Bumstead making his debut in Men’s Open against some of the world’s best across all divisions.
Clarida has won an Open show in the past. He was victorious during the 2021 Legion Sports Fest Pro and this added a second qualification to the Olympia the following year. Ultimately, Clarida decided to remain in 212 and fight to regain his title in the division. After hitting Open once again, Clarida clarified that he will remain in Men’s 212 but plans to compete in multiple Open shows during the year.
Shaun Clarida Begins Working With John Jewett
Shaun Clarida had not been working with anyone since John Meadows, who was his coach for seven years. The two did some big things together but since Meadows passed away in 2021, Clarida has been working on his own.
“I worked with John Meadows for seven years of my career. For those seven years, he is the one who trained me, put together my splits, training routines, the whole nine yards. With the seven years of knowledge I gained working with him, I was able to get back in the gym and train myself.”
When it was time to pick a new coach, Clarida wanted someone who had personal experience performing the training program. He continues to work with Stefan Kienzl as well, who will handle his nutrition and supplements as usual. Kienzl was on board with Jewett coming in to run the training program.
“I wanted someone who actually went through the programs himself and saw that they actually worked and is able to pass it along to someone else.”
“I’ll come in and do six, seven different exercises. John Jewett is an advocate of four, five basic movements and a lot more sets and in some cases, more reps. The first week, I noticed my body was beat up in a good way. Very sore, very full and I like that feeling. Second week, I was getting a little bit stronger.”
Shaun Clarida finished by saying his plan is still to compete in the 212 Olympia at the end of the year.
“The plan obviously is the 212 Olympia in October. I’m going to be working with John from now all into the show. Stefan, again, is still my coach. He still runs my nutrition programs and he is very much on board with me working with John Jewett.”
