Shia LaBeouf used different PED’s and steroids to put on over 50 pounds for a movie role.
The trend of steroids in Hollywood is one that has been debated for years now. Many actors continue to deny use but others like Frank Grillo recently spoken out to educate others about what has worked and what hasn’t. Shia LaBeouf has become the latest to admit use and explains how he was able to put on 55 pounds for a movie role.
LaBeouf spoke during the premiere of Salvable, where he portrayed a fighter who was built in an incredible way. He knew that he wanted to add more size in order to accurately portray the fighter.
“It was like ‘well, how am I going to fit in this world? I’m so tiny.’ And if you meet any of these fighters, these travelers, even guys in my position who are just kind of bookies, they’re big boys.”
LaBeouf weighed around 165 pounds prior to preparing for this role. In order to gain upwards of 55 pounds, LaBeouf admitted to using SARMs, which mimic some of the effects of building muscle. SARMs are not technically anabolic steroids but carry some of the same risks as well, including impacts on testosterone, hair loss, liver toxicity, and reduced sperm count.

He has been willing to discuss his own methods before the conversation turned to steroid use in Hollywood. Unlike many other actors, Grillo was honest about the topic and shared that many use different substances even though they might not admit it.
“None of those are natural bodies. Those guys don’t walk around looking one way like six months out of the year and then all of a sudden they have 35 pounds of muscle on them. We all know what they’re doing.”
