Big Ramy, living up to the name.
In bodybuilding there is always a changing of the guard, an end of an era and the beginning of a new regime. For several years Phil Heath has proven to be the best bodybuilder in the world, dominating the competition with his powerful genetic gifts. He is no doubt the man with the biggest target on his back in the current landscape of bodybuilding. But with every champion there is a challenger waiting in the shadows hoping to spring the upset.
If 2015 has proven anything it’s that anything could happen in bodybuilding. Kai Greene didn’t compete at the Olympia, Dexter Jackson dominating the young guns, the list goes on. One impressive development was that Mamdouh Elssbiay, the man commonly referred to as Big Ramy, was able to compete at a weight that had never been seen before. Coming into the 2015, Big Ramy weighed an astounding 316 lbs. That’s massive..
Though he may have set a record at the competition, Big Ramy’s growth wasn’t enough to pull the upset and dethrone Heath. He was only able to capture the 5th place spot and to many it was deemed somewhat of a disappointment. Despite that, at only 31 years old, the sky’s the limit for the Egyptian bodybuilder. He has true potential and could make many changes and improvements that could see him becoming the Olympia champion.
The show must go on and Big Ramy is taking that ideology to heart. With the EVLS Prague Pro coming up this weekend, Big Ramy is hoping to bring his best to the competition and take the top spot. If this pic is any give away, the massive Egyptian is taking things seriously.
