Conor McGregor’s return to the ring is set for June 29.
There is finally an official date for Conor McGregor’s return to the ring.
On Saturday night, UFC CEO Dana White announced that McGregor will return to action during UFC 303 on June 29 to take on Michael Chandler. This will be the headlining event during UFC’s International Fight Week. McGregor previously shared that he would be taking on Chandler during the event but it was made officially by White over the weekend.
McGregor and Chandler were coaches on opposite ends during the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter. The plan was for the two to fight at the end of the season but many conflicts continued to get in the way. Now, there is a plan for the two to step in the ring.

Conor McGregor will return to action for the first time in three years. In 2021, McGregor suffered a broken leg against Dustin Poirier. The former two-division champion has just one victory since 2016 and has been in the ring just four times. McGregor also took on Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match back in 2017.
McGregor had been busy filming with Jake Gyllenhaal to create ‘Road House.’ Gyllenhaal trained with McGregor to prepare for his role. Now that the film has been released, McGregor is ready to return to action.

Chandler’s last fight also came against Poirier. This was a submission loss at UFC 281 in 2022. Chandler became a three-time lightweight champion after signing with the UFC in 2020. Michael Chandler went from respecting his rival to apparently having an altercation with the brash Irishman. That behind the scenes clash likely gave Chandler some extra motivation to be at his best ahead of their bout.
Conor McGregor’s return to the ring will be one of the must-watch events of the summer.

Michael Chandler was also featured in the documentary The Hurt Business – which chronicled the history of MMA from its inception to the modern era. The film also followed a wide variety of MMA fighters leading up to their matches including Jon Jones and Ronda Rousey.
