The day began at 7 a.m. with the “stairs of death” followed by an uphill run. This was done before the gym session began and Jesse James West was already feeling the effects.
“Even though I have an athletic background, I have the worst flexibility. This is brutal.”
At 9 a.m., the duo hit the gym where Michael Chandler took West through his warmup and activation routine. West began kicking it up a notch when strength workouts began. It consisted of power-based exercises such as trap bar deadlifts, sled push, kettlebell swings, and medicine ball throws.
After working out, Chandler has a high-protein lunch and a dip in an ice bath.
“It’s times like this in life that really test you. When you’re feeling just every part of your body tell you to ‘stop, stop, stop, quit, quit, quit’ but you keep pushing.”

And of course, the training session ended with sparring. Over the course of the day. Chandler prepared West to train in the ring and he did not go easy on the YouTuber.
“I know you think this is king of a joke but when I walk into this sanctuary, this is where it gets real. The lifting was fun. The ice barrel was fun. This is where the rubber meets the road,” Chandler said.
Jesse James West admitted to forgetting what he was taught and he focused on “trying to stay alive” when in the ring.
Chandler explained how he feels like he still has time left in UFC. When the day was over, Jesse James West successfully completed another fitness challenge.
