Derek Lunsford announced that he is now working with Chris Aceto ahead of the 2025 Arnold Classic.
Derek Lunsford is preparing for the Arnold Classic in March as he hopes to get back to the top of the bodybuilding world. After the Olympia, Lunsford decided to make changes and revealed that he is now working with coach Chris Aceto. The duo recently hit a chest workout during prep.
“The big news is I’m now working with Chris Aceto. We started working together 15 weeks out from the Arnold. We started speaking a few weeks after the Olympia but hadn’t locked anything in for certain.”
Lunsford is just over one year removed from winning his first Mr. Olympia title. He became the only competitor to win a title in both divisions after defeating Shaun Clarida in Men’s 212 in 2021. Lunsford returned to the biggest stage in 2024 and fell to third on the scorecard.
After his performance, Lunsford will take a swing at the Arnold and the $500,000 prize. Lunsford has been training with Chris Cormier as well this offseason but recently announced his partnership with Aceto.
“I’m trying to do a reverse Jay Cutler in ’09, going from Hany Rambod to Chris Aceto this time instead of Chris Aceto to Hany Rambod.”

Derek Lunsford’s Chest Workout
Derek Lunsford has been working with Aceto for weeks now. This specific chest day featured six movements:
- Pec Deck Fly
- Incline Dumbbell Press
- Decline Chest Press Machine
- Decline Flat Bench Press
- Standing Flyes
- Seated Dumbbell Lat Raises
Lunsford now working with Aceto has helped him achieve his dream of working with some of the best coaches in the world.
“Between Hany Rambod and Chris Aceto, they are the two coaches that I have always admired the most as an up-and-comer in the NPC, as an amateur aspiring bodybuilder. I always had the dream of working with one of them or both of them.”
Lunsford began his diet plan for the Arnold 15 weeks out of the event. There were many rumors flying around about his current training for Columbus and Lunsford put them to bed with answers.
“Many of you may have already had that idea but it had not been mentioned or announced officially. I know there were some rumors going around that I was working with other coaches and nope, I’m thankful to be working with one of the best once again.”
