Statham uses this seven-move workout to keep his midsection toned.
Actor Jason Statham has been one of the most well-known in the action genre over the years. Along with his incredible skills on the big screen, Statham has been able to keep his physique in top shape at 58 years old. Statham has been able to sculpt his physique to fit the role he is preparing to play and that is true of his prep for The Beekeeper as well, where he kept his midsection shredded.
Statham teamed up with former UFC welterweight and taekwondo champion James Moontasri while he trained for the 2024 film. The action began 12 weeks before filming kicked off and the duo was in the gym constantly. Moontarsi talked about Statham and his training plan with Men’s Health.
“The benefit of working with someone like Jason, who’s skilled in martial arts, is we can train for three or four hours without anyone getting bored. Jason likes to execute everything he does to perfection.”
Statham began his training sessions at 5am each morning. Before anything else, the duo would begin with different jiu jitsu and boxing training. Statham would hit many different exercises but honed in on one core routine to keep his midsection toned.

Jason Statham’s Core Workout
The following workout is a seven-move, two-block session that needs a rowing machine, Swiss ball, and pull-up bar. The rest is 15 seconds between each exercise and one minute before beginning the second round.
Block A
- Pull-Ups – 15 reps
- Rows – 1,000 meters
- Shadow Boxing – 3 minutes
Block B
- Swiss Ball Hamstring Curl – 45 seconds
- Swiss Ball Rotational Knee Tuck – 45 seconds
- Swiss Ball Plank Tantrums – 45 seconds
- Swiss Ball Planks – 45 seconds
Jason Statham has become known for his roles as a tough and gritty character in many films. he began practicing martial arts and kickboxing at a young age and this has helped during his training for many roles. Over the years, Statham has become known for his roles in the 2000s and 2010s, including Snatch and The Italian Job with Mark Wahlberg.
Obtaining six pack abs is certainly a tall task. Where many believe that doing 300 crunches will get the job done, the reality of the situation is that abdominal exercises provide a strong base, but really have nothing to do with getting your abs to pop. The old saying goes that abs aren’t made in the gym, but made in the kitchen and truer words have never been spoken.
If you want those fabled six pack abs then you’re going to have to work just as hard on your nutrition. But that doesn’t mean you should train to obtain abs of steel. Sure, getting your body fat down will make your abs more visible, but it doesn’t mean they’ll be strong. Jason Statham has been able to put together a strong midsection using different workouts and exercises.
