Jay Cutler Talks Big Ramy Returning Following Break: “It’s Going To Be Very Difficult”

Jay Cutler believes it is difficult to return to the sport after taking a break.

Big Ramy shared that he would not be competing in the 2023 Olympia competition. This has sparked the conversation about when the former champ could make his return and what shape will he be in. Jay Cutler is up to date on all things bodybuilding and recently talked this topic.

Ramy is a two-time Olympia champion (2020, 2021) who was thought to be a threat at the title once again in 2022. Instead, Ramy regressed and finished fifth. He made a quick return to the stage and competed at the Arnold Classic but did not impress once again, finishing fourth. Ramy ultimately decided that he was going to take some time off.

Cutler knows a thing or two about winning on the biggest stage. He is a four-time Olympia champion who has stayed in elite shape in retirement. When addressing the news that Ramy is stepping away, he spoke about how difficult it could be to rev back up.

Jay Cutler Explains How Big Ramy Might Return

Jay Cutler spoke about Big Ramy and his future on his Cutler Cast podcast. Cutler believes that it will be difficult to return, especially once he is back into normal life.

“It’s going to be very difficult and now him not competing this year. I think unless he gets in the early shows next year. Remember, he is Mr. Olympia so he is qualified for life. He can come back in 10 years if he wants. Once you step away and get back into real life, it’s much different and Ramy doesn’t need money. He doesn’t thrive on the fame.

It’s really gonna come down to what he wants to do but I can tell you once he steps away and maybe he attends the show or doesn’t attend and sees either a repeat champ or a new champ, it’s gonna make it that much more difficult for him to get that fire to come back.”

While it might be difficult, Cutler believes that Ramy can return but that he should not rush it.

“I think Ramy, yes he can come back, but I don’t feel like he should rush it and say, okay since he sat out the Olympia, he jumps into Arnold or the early shows like to see. I think he needs to really take the time and plan accordingly and I think he should really do his best to say okay, maybe not even next year compete. I mean, he’s gonna be 40 by that time he needs to see where his head is at. He has a family. He’s got more important things.”

Big Ramy has enjoyed an extremely successful career and has decided to take a break. For how long? We don’t know just yet but it seems like he will make his return in the future.
