John Meadows Suffers Heart Attack

Bodybuilder and entrepreneur John Meadows has suffered a heart attack.

John Meadows has suffered a heart attack and is currently in the hospital as announced on his official Facebook page by his wife, Mary. According to the post, the heart attack was caused potentially by a clotting disorder in his blood vessels. He is currently “fine” and still in the hospital.

John Meadows has been bodybuilding since the age of 13, but his journey towards becoming a pro was a long one filled with hurdles. He has previously survived a rare colon disease that nearly took his life. Meadows had his entire colon removed and moved into a new life of bodybuilding more aware of the importance of being health conscious as a bodybuilder. In an amazing comeback into bodybuilding, Meadows eventually earned his pro card.

John credits his wife Mary as his biggest influence in life. She was with him through “ups” and “downs,” always supporting his decisions in life. “I couldn’t have done it without her,” John Meadows states of his wife. “When I was sick and got out of the hospital and I was too weak to look after myself, she did everything for me, including sanitary things I can’t talk about.”

“If I say I want to do something, we’ll talk about it, make sure it’s workable and then she gets behind me and supports the idea and me all the way. And when I’m hurting the last three or four weeks of my diet, she sees the look on my face and says, ‘Just hang in there, it’s going to be worth it.’ And I need to hear that at that stage.”

The bodybuilding community has already been sending messages of support via social media wishing John Meadows a full and speedy recovery including current Olympia champion Brandon Curry.

Steve Kuclo also sent out a message of support:

Shawn Clarida, a close friend and training client of John Meadows shared his well wishes as well.
