Kamal Elgargni is considered one of the favorites to win the 2023 Masters Olympia.

Kamal Elgargni has made a name for himself on stage in multiple divisions. The former Men’s 212 Olympia champion has competed in Men’s Open as well and this is where he will appear during the 2023 Masters Olympia this weekend. Elgargni shared one final physique update on Friday, showing off what he hopes will be a championship physique.

The 2023 Masters Olympia competition will officially make its return this weekend. The event was held at the BT Arena in Cluj Napoca, Romania where all 10 divisions in bodybuilding were present to compete. This event featured some of the best competitors of all-time as results were spread over two nights.

Robby Robinson won the first ever Masters Olympia competition back in 1994. Vince Taylor holds the record with six victories, which occurred consecutively from 1996-2001. There was a hiatus following the 2003 competition before Dexter Jackson took home the title in 2012.

Now, Elgargni is hoping to become to next champion of the Masters Olympia. In his recent update, Elgargni looked shredded ahead of the show.

Kamal Elgargni has been hard at work since announcing he would compete during the Masters Olympia. The results are evident when looking at his social media pages.

Kamal Elgargni said back in March that “if the prize was right,” he would enter the Masters Olympia. Apparently, the pool was to his liking and he is now one of the favorites to win the show in Men’s Open.

Elgargni is one of the top Men’s 212 competitors over the last decade. He has placed in the top three in each of the last five Olympia competitions in 212, including a victory in 2019. Last season, Elgargni began competing in Men’s Open. He entered the 2022 Tampa Pro and finished as the runner-up to Akim Williams. Elgargni has tailored his physique to Men’s Open and will be looking to make an impression once again.

About Kamal Elgargni

From 2003 to 2017, Kamal competed under the Qatar flag. How Kamal, who was a Libyan national landed ended up in Qatar is a story in itself.

In 2013 Qatar hosted the Asian Olympic Games, but did not have good bodybuilders on its lineup. They then asked their bodybuilding coach, who was a Libyan, to get them good bodybuilders in exchange for the opportunity to compete at the national level as well as Qatari citizenship. Kamal Elgargni, a NABBA World Champion, fit the bill perfectly.

Before earning his pro card in 2018, Kamal Elgargni received an invite to compete at the 2003 Night of Champions, which is now the New York Pro, by Wayne DeMilia who was the Mr. Olympia promoter between 1984 and 2003. The “Lion of Libya” had qualified for the show by winning the IFBB Amateur UK.
