Levrone wants to hand out as many Pro Cards as possible as bodybuilding continues to grow.
Bodybuilding legend Kevin Levrone has kept up with the happenings in bodybuilding despite his competitive career coming to an end. While maintaining a shredded physique of his own, Levrone called for the sport to help others turn pro as well. During a recent interview, Levrone urged the IFBB to hand out Pro Cards as the sport continues to grow.

Levrone has looked at how the sport of bodybuilding has grown over the years. He discussed the year he won Nationals, which was the biggest show where you could turn pro. It would not be negative to hand out more Pro Cards because the best will still be the best.
“The best is going to rise to the top. Give out 300-400 Pro Cards. The cream is still going to rise to the top.”
Levrone was one of the top bodybuilders in Men’s Open during the 90s. He was unable to capture the elusive Sandow Trophy but finished as the runner-up on four separate occasions. During this time, Levrone battled with the likes of Dorian Yates and Flex Wheeler. He is also a two-time Arnold Classic champion. Levrone has kept up with the happenings around bodybuilding and this includes the Olympia.

Kevin Levrone Calls for More Pro Cards
If more Pro Cards are handed out, that means there is more competition over the course of the year. Levrone calls for that competition and believes it is not a big deal considering only one can win the biggest show of the year.
“Give out 1,000 Pro Cards, I don’t care. That’s good with me as a competitor. Who cares? I wouldn’t care. Only one person can win the Olympia.”
Levrone continued to discuss how the amount of Pro Cards should not be the focus around the sport.
“Let’s focus on the quality of athletes that are winning shows and that are at that highest level of a Mr. Olympia or whatever. Let’s focus on what’s going onstage and pick the cream of the crop out of who’s on the stage.”
Ultimately, the sport of bodybuilding has continued to grow and that is the most important thing. That seems to be the argument being made by Kevin Levrone and backs his point as to why to hand out more cards.
“The sport has become very, very mainstream. Every category that’s been added has also taken us in a mainstream direction. It’s not just hardcore bodybuilding anymore.”
