Priest may be one of the more controversial pro bodybuilders within the fine history of the sport. During his prime years he was a force to be reckoned with and his massive arms are still fawned over to this day.

Lee Priest Talks Illusions In Bodybuilding

Mike O’Hearn began the conversation by bringing up the overall illusion of physiques in bodybuilding. If you are well-conditioned and carry less body fat, you may come off as bigger but your bodyweight could be significantly less. Lee Priest responded with personal experiences with this.

“It plays an illusion. So you there, next to everyone, you’re sliced, you’re bigger, and you’re 60 pounds smaller,” O’Hearn said.

“That would happen to me all the time because people would see me in the gym being bulked up like that and I’d start getting ready for a show, start leaning up and they go ‘oh, you’ve put some size on. You’re looking bigger.’ I’d say I’ve lost 35 pounds.”

This has happened in Hollywood for years now. Recent actors, such as Zac Efron and Mark Wahlberg, have become known for their shredded physiques on the big screen. Priest used older examples of Sylvester Stallone and Jean-Claude Van Damme to make his point.

“How many times you see movie actors on the big screen like the Van Damme’s and Stallone’s. You think they’re massive because they’re in shape. But then you see them in person and it’s like, he’s tiny.”

Lee Priest’s wisdom and personal experiences shed light on the mental challenges, strategies, and the importance of adopting a healthy, sustainable approach to diet and fitness.
