Mike O’Hearn Gets Busted For Steroids & Synthol

Mike O'Hearn Bodybuilder

It looks like Mike O’Hearn has finally been exposed for both steroid and synthol use… on the popular Fox drama 9-1-1

After years of speculation, Mike O’Hearn has finally been busted for not only steroid use – but also synthol – in the fictional (and extremely popular) Fox Network drama 9-1-1. Revealed in a promo yesterday evening, O’Hearn is set to guest star as a bodybuilder whose bicep explodes requiring medical attention from the station 118 crew. The episode is set to air this coming Monday, April 17th at 8pm ET.

Mike O’Hearn, who is part of the Generation Iron Network via his podcast The Mike O’Hearn Show, informed us of his guest appearance earlier this week. Now with the first official preview for the episode dropped – he wanted to have some fun with his reputation while also promoting his appearance on the show. After years of maintaining his all-natural claims – he gets to play a steroid junky whose bicep explodes from too much synthol. So why not have some fun by trolling the nay-sayers that constantly call him a fake natty?

For years, even decades, bodybuilding fans have wanted to bust Mike O’Hearn for using steroids. O’Hearn has maintained that he is all-natural throughout the course of his entire career. Many don’t believe him due to the incredible size and conditioning of his physique. O’Hearn has alway been one to have fun with this reputation – often teasing bodybuilding fans and making ironic jokes about using steroids or other PEDs.

But this playful announcement is also in effort to bring attention to the ever-expanding presence of bodybuilding into the mainstream media and entertainment. And to also thank the incredible cast and crew who work tirelessly every week to create the extremely popular Fox Network drama 9-1-1.

“I’m beyond excited to be working with Angela Bassett as well as the entire cast and crew of 9-1-1. I’m really greatfull to be on the set of a hit TV show, doing what I love, especially at this stage in my career. What a blessing,” Mike O’Hearn stated to Generation Iron. He continued:

“I’m really looking forward to all of the amazing projects I have coming up, including Magazine Dreams, Divinity, and Book of Cain. The fact that there is already Oscar buzz around Magazine Dreams – and the fact that I’m co-starring in this great film with the one and only Jonathan Majors – that’s so exciting to me.”

“I’m so grateful and excited that my long-term fans have been along for the ride. Not only that, but I’m really thankful to have gained some new fans along the way as well. It’s really important to me to show the ‘youngsters’ that, if you believe in something – in yourself – and stay true to it, not for a day, or a year, but a lifetime, your dreams WILL come true.”

Mike O’Hearn has been extremely active in expanding his presence in the film and television world. He recently wrapped on two independent films, Divinity and Magazine Dreams. The latter recently screened at the Sundance Film Festival to incredible buzz. O’Hearn has also previously appeared in episodes of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia and Workaholics.

Mike O'Hearn 9-1-1 behind the scenes

The upcoming 9-1-1 episode is titled Performance Anxiety. This is the official synopsis:

The 118 races to a commercial bakery and a bodybuilding competition. Chimney runs into a familiar face at the firefighter academy. Maddie helps a nervous teen suffering a panic attack.

The synopsis is rather vague, keeping in line with modern televisions spoiler-averse descriptions of upcoming episodes. But the promo that was released gives us a little bit more detail. It seems that The 118 arrive to a bodybuilding competition where a competitor named Biggs’ (Mike O’Hearn) arm explodes on stage. They claim the competitor is a steroid user who also used “synthetic oil,” aka synthol, to increase his muscle size… unfortunately springing a leak when he flexes too hard during his posing routine.

As per usual with 9-1-1, the whole thing is a bit over-exaggerated for entertaining cheesy drama. You can literally see a quick shot of his bicep leaking oil like a water fountain. Check out the promo below:
