“600 grams of chicken, blended to a nice juicy soup. It tastes like grandma’s soup for real. Really good.”
Sommerfeld finished as the runner-up to Chris Bumstead during the 2024 Olympia. With Bumstead announcing his retirement, this puts Sommerfeld in line to compete for the title right away in 2025. It has been kicked into high gear following his victory in Columbus. Sommerfeld will be among the favorites to win the biggest show of the year.

Mike Sommerfeld’s Chicken Shake Recipe

Mike Sommerfeld makes a shake but splits it up into three sessions. Each shake consists of 50 grams of protein. This helps aid in his recovery over the course of the day:
Morning
- 200g Chicken Breast
- Chicken Bone Broth
- Turmeric
- Black Pepper
- Lemon
Post-Workout
- 200g Chicken Breast
- Coconut Water
- Spinach
- Garlic
- Ginger
Evening
- 200g Chicken Breast
- Almond Milk
- Chia Seeds
- Fresh Herbs
In each shake, Sommerfeld adds elements that help in different ways. In the morning, the lemon aids in joint and immune health. Post workout, Sommerfeld adds ginger for electrolytes and circulation.
At this point, Mike Sommerfeld has taken on a low-carb diet plan at the 10-week mark of prep. Along with his chicken shakes, Sommerfeld also prioritizes coffee each day.
“One and a half liters of coffee each day. Getting ready for the show, more caffeine, fat burning.”
At the beginning of the video, Sommerfeld discussed a health issue he had been dealing with. He described it as a “cyst under his back tooth” that caused pain. This made it difficult to eat because of the discomfort when he chewed food. While he has worked through this issue, he has been working hard in the gym and tailoring his diet plan to his stage of prep. Sommerfeld is under three months away from competing for his first-ever Olympia title.
