Can Hadi Choopan improve further to win back the Olympia title?
Men’s Open’s Hadi Choopan is one of the best bodybuilders on the planet and an Olympia threat once again. After losses in each of the last two years, Choopan is determined to win back his title. Head judge Steve Weinberger recently spoke on many topics in bodybuilding, including how Choopan can improve for the show.
Choopan won his first Olympia title in 2022. Derek Lunsford jumped Choopan at the 2023 Olympia to win his first title. Choopan was not satisfied with the result and quickly went back to work. He was able to win both the Arnold Classic and Arnold Classic UK.
Last year, Choopan returned to the top three but fell to three, behind both Lunsford and new champion Samson Dauda. Choopan can now focus on improvements to make heading into the 2025 Olympia.
Steve Weinberger Talks Hadi Choopan Improvements
Hadi Choopan has become known for his insane conditioning on stage. He comes in shredded each year but there are other areas where Weinberger would like to see improvements. It begins with his thighs and back.
“I’d like to see even more sweep on his thighs and more width on his back and more tap on his delts. That’s what I’d like to see out of him. Because he’s as dangerous as any of those guys. He gets rock hard. His conditioning is never in question.”
Hadi Choopan has trained with Lunsford under the guidance of Hany Rambod. This includes taking part in an intense FST-7 chest and triceps workout. This particular workout came ahead of the 2024 Olympia and featured eight exercises:
- Machine Chest Press
- Panatta Flat Press
- Smith Machine Incline Bench Press
- Machine Bent-Over Fly
- Machine Chest Decline Fly
- Cable Triceps Pushdown
- Machine Overhead Triceps Extension
- Standing Cable High Cross Triceps Extension
Hadi Choopan knows the struggles of bodybuilding and is working to recover. Following his performance in 2024, Choopan shared an inspirational video about his journey. It would not be a surprise to see him make a run at the title once again.
“Sometimes you have to go backwards to go forwards. It’s like propelling your experience infinitely forward. So all that, the reversals, aren’t used as an excuse for your progress later.”
