William Bonac Announces Retirement
William Bonac says the 2026 Mr. Olympia will be his final appearance on the Olympia stage, confirming that he plans to hang up his posing trunks following one last run at the Arnold Classic. Bonac intends to compete at the 2027 Arnold Classic and Arnold Classic UK before officially calling it a career.
Bonac made the announcement during an interview with BTS TV when asked directly about his future.
“This is gonna be my last Olympia. That’s what I’m saying. I’m gonna hang up the trunks. It’s gonna be my last Olympia, but not my last show.”
While the Olympia will mark the end of one chapter, Bonac explained that there was one stage he needed to visit before walking away completely: the Arnold Classic.

William Bonac Announces Retirement Plans After Final Olympia
Bonac has a special connection with the Arnold Classic after winning the prestigious contest twice during his career in 2018 and 2020.
That history played a major role in his decision to make an Arnold event part of his farewell.
“Arnold Classic. I won that twice and, you know, I wanna say goodbye there. If I say goodbye at Olympia, I definitely have to say goodbye at Arnold Classic.”
The decision will bring an end to an impressive run at the highest level of Men’s Open bodybuilding. Bonac made his Olympia debut in 2014 and steadily worked his way into championship contention. His breakthrough included a third-place Olympia finish in 2017 before he ultimately recorded the best Olympia result of his career in 2019, finishing runner-up to Brandon Curry.
Even late in his career, Bonac has remained competitive. In 2026, he won both the Empro Classic Spain Pro and France Pro, while also finishing second at the FLEX Weekend Italy Pro.

Bonac’s longevity and consistency have made him a fixture in the Men’s Open division for more than a decade. Among the biggest accomplishments of his career are:

Bonac’s two victories in Columbus remain particularly significant. The official Arnold Classic champions list places him alongside a select group of athletes who have captured the title multiple times.
Before the farewell tour reaches the Arnold stage, however, Bonac still has unfinished business in Las Vegas.
The 2026 Mr. Olympia will give Bonac one final opportunity to stand alongside the best Men’s Open bodybuilders in the world on bodybuilding’s biggest stage. After more than a decade of Olympia appearances, this time Bonac already knows it will be his last.
