Highlights from the 2024 Olympia Men’s 212 prejudging.
The 2024 Olympia kicked off on Friday morning with the first set of prejudging. The Men’s 212 division hit the stage for the first time with an intriguing storyline at the top.
Keone Pearson impressed early on during the 2023 Olympia and ended up earning his first title by defeating Shaun Clarida, which was considered a major upset. Clarida qualified for both 212 and Men’s Open in 2022 but decided to return to regain his title after losing to Derek Lunsford in 2021. Clarida was crowned champion in 2022 before finishing as the runner-up to Pearson last year.

The battle between Pearson and Clarida was on display once again. Angel Calderon Frias finished as high as second in 2022 and was top three once again last year.
This trio was featured in the first callout once again and will likely battle for the overall title come Friday night. Early in the first callout, Clarida and Pearson found themselves next to each other in the center of the stage. The judges brought out a final four in the fifth and final callout as well. Clarida and Pearson highlighted the group in the middle once again.
Kerrith Bajjo was included as well and will look to shake things up on Friday night. For the final comparison, Pearson and Clarida switched spots in the center. This gave judges a chance to see Pearson next to Calderon Frias. It will be interesting to see if Clarida gained an early advantage on Friday morning.
