Could the former Classic Physique Olympia champ decide to stay where he is?!
Pro Bodybuilder, Breon Ansley has been working to make the move to Men’s 212 but could he reconsider his decision? The former Classic Physique Olympia champ shared his plans around the time of the 2022 Olympia and has been tailoring his physique to a new division. Recently, Classic Physique announced a change in weight restrictions and this led to Ansley reconsidering his options.
Ansley began his amateur career in 2012 and earned his Pro Card the very next year by winning the NPC USA Championships. He quickly rose to the top of Classic Physique, winning his first Olympia at the 2017 Olympia. Ansley continued to improve as he won both the 2018 Arnold Classic and the 2018 Olympia.
The Classic Physique division continued to grow and add talent, led by Chris Bumstead. He defeated Ansley in 2019 Olympia to take the Olympia title and has not relinquished it since. Ansley has continued to compete in the division in hopes of one day taking back his title.
Despite announcing a move to 212, Ansley recently shared that he will weigh different options with his team.
Breon Ansley To Consider Staying In Classic
On Wednesday, the IFBB announced that Classic Physique will increase its weight limits. This will happen by 2-7 pounds for competitors from their allotted weight. The change was made to help shorter competitors try to even the playing field against taller athletes.
Breon Ansley took to Instagram to share a video explaining how he will reconsider staying in Classic.
“Yes, yes. I have heard the news. Pretty ironic how I’m in here practicing posing, looking at everything. Looking at the checks and balances and I hear the news that upping the short height in Classic by seven pounds.
So, that does make a difference for me ladies and gentleman. Absolutely, it would be an entirely different look for me on stage and I will discuss it with the team to see where we stand and see what decisions we will make.”

In his caption, Ansley claims that he would not have to cut water as heavy leading up to shows.
“The increase in the weight cap would put me at 187lbs guys; however I might not have to cut water so heavy so I could weigh in at 192lbs because I wouldnt lose as much height! Definitely something to sleep on!!”
The new restrictions will definitely allow certain competitors to take on different strategies. It will be interesting to see how different athletes take advantage of the new rules.
Breon Ansley shared that he would make a separate video on YouTube to dive deeper into his thought process. Classic is a growing division and keeping Ansley means that the top would remain deep. For now, we know that he is considering staying in the division where he has dominated in the past.
