Pro Bodybuilder known as “El Charro” Lomeli was shot while driving in his truck on Thursday night.
Former bodybuilding champion Luis Manuel Lomeli was killed on Thursday night. Charro Lomeli was driving his Dodge Ram truck in the San Jeronimo neighborhood in Leon, Guanajuato on Juan Alonso de Torres boulevard when he was shot by two gunmen from another vehicle, according to multiple reports.
Lomeli was allegedly on his way to the gym during the time of the attack. He attempted to put the car in reverse and caused a collision with another vehicle. The investigation is still ongoing as authorities are combining elements from the scene with available security footage to gather more detail.
This was the second time this calendar year that Lomeli was attacked. According to La Silla Rota Guanajuato, Lomeli was the victim of another armed attack about five months ago. The gunmen shot at Lomeli but only grazed his arm.
During this time, Lomeli was preparing to host a bodybuilding competition but was forced to cancel. Charro Lomeli was not competing on stage anymore but was working as a trainer helping other prepare for competition. Charro Lomeli enjoyed a successful career where he was a national champion on stage. Since ending his days of competition, Lomeli began working as a trainer and built a reputation as one of the top fitness experts in Mexico.

This devastating news comes two weeks after former champion and Brazilian bodybuilder Eustacio Batista Dias was shot and killed by two men during a training session in a gym in Botuctu, Sao Paulo. It was reported that reported that Batista shared his location on social media shortly before his training session began. It is unknown why the men targeted Batista. Police rushed to the scene of the crime but were unable to catch the suspects as they fled the scene quickly.
