Roelly Winklaar shared an update for his 48th birthday. Will there be a comeback attempt?
Bodybuilder Roelly Winklaar has teased a comeback to the stage many times over the years. While there might not be plans as of now, he brought up the subject once again following a physique update.
On Saturday, Winklaar took to social media for his latest physique update. His caption teased that the thought of a comeback is still is in mind.

Winklaar has not yet retired but has not been on stage in three years. He competed at the Olympia 10 times over the course of his career but was never able to grab the elusive Sandow Trophy. In 2018, Winklaar put on his best show and finished third to the late Shawn Rhoden and Phil Heath. In 2021, Winklaar stepped on stage for the last time during the 2021 Romania Muscle Fest Pro.

Roelly Winklaar Teases Comeback to Bodybuilding
Winklaar shared a post on his 48th birthday showing off his massive arms. He was one of the biggest mass monsters during his peak on stage. He followed it up with another post that should spark some conversation.
“Magic mirror mirror on the wall, do you think I can do a come back?”
It has been quite some time since Winklaar has competed but he has used this time to get fully healthy. Winklaar has suffered different injuries that have kept him off stage. This includes a five-hour rotator cuff surgery on his left shoulder that put his bodybuilding career in jeopardy. Many comments suggested a return to Masters Olympia.
This is not the first time that Winklaar has teased a comeback in 2025.
“I tell myself how I was last, if I’m not going do beat that, I’ll never go on stage. We bodybuilders, we are always hungry to go on stage. Everybody wants the challenge. Maybe someday if I feel so good, you never know.”
The Masters Olympia officially made its return in 2023. The event was held at the BT Arena in Cluj Napoca, Romania where all 10 divisions in bodybuilding were present to compete. Kamal Elgargni highlighted the event with a victory in Men’s Open. The event was not part of the IFBB Pro League schedule this year but will make its return in August 2025.
As of now, there are no plans. What we do know if that Roelly Winklaar has stayed in shape and has showed it off on many occasions. We do not know if it ever will ever happen but the idea is not completely lost on Winklaar.
