Bodybuilding great Ronnie Coleman met boxer Tommy Fury for a big-time workout.
Boxer Tommy Fury has been a fan of bodybuilding and personal fitness over the course of his career. Recently, he got the chance to train back and biceps with one of his idols on stage. Fury teamed up with Ronnie Coleman for a workout while discussing different topics within the fitness industry.
“I was watching him at like eight or nine on YouTube doing these crazy lifts and now I’m doing back with him. It’s crazy how life works out.”

Coleman is tied for the most Olympia victories of all-time with eight, along with Lee Haney. He held the record for most IFBB wins as well with 26 titles for many years. That record was broken by Dexter Jackson, but Coleman’s legacy remains even more intact as a legend. Coleman’s reign would end in 2006, but his place in history was already set in stone.
Despite undergoing multiple back surgeries in retirement, Coleman remains active in the gym. He joined Fury at tbJP X Shed Gym in Cheltenham, England for this workout.
Ronnie Coleman & Tommy Fury Workout
The back and bicep workout consisted of five exercises:
Lat Pulldowns
The workout began with traditional lat pulldowns. Tommy Fury decided to add on some extra weight during this workout. As a boxer, this is not something he can do often because of weight restrictions.
“It’s hard for me. I’ve always wanted to go as heavy as I can but with boxing, you have to keep within a certain weight. So it’s hard to go that high.”
Underhand Lat Pulldown Machine
The duo moved onto another plate-loaded lat machine. Ronnie Coleman shared that when he was preparing for the Olympia, he conserved his energy for his sets, meaning weight had to be loaded by others.
“When I was preparing for the Olympia, because my carb was so low, I couldn’t even load my own weight. I used my energy for doing my sets. All the loading was done by my assistant.”
Coleman was aiming to do two hours of cardio along with his workout during this time. His carbs were at 125 grams while takin in 600 grams of protein.
“I thought I was aiming for a lot, about 300 a day. Double,” Fury said.

Seated Low Row
Seated low rows were next on the list. This is when the duo started to get into the topic of boxing. Coleman, who has been a lifelong fan of boxing, asked Fury about his future plans. This includes getting into TV and film.
“It’s been super hard to get fights. It’s like, since things started, normal fighters have like 10 in the first six months. It’s taken me this long to get that much. I got into some TV stuff so it’s been all over.”
Preacher Curls
The final exercise was preacher curls, which Coleman said was his favorite to train biceps. Fury asked when the bodybuilding legend got into training and it is no surprise that it was at a young age.
“I started when I was 12. I got on the powerlifting team when I was like 14. In high school, I was squatting like 500.”
