Shawn Ray Says “It’s Not a Guarantee” Nick Walker Makes it to 2025 Olympia Stage

Nick Walker missed the last two Olympia competitions before his prep for 2025.

Bodybuilding veteran Shawn Ray has become known for sharing his opinions in the sport since his competitive days ended. With the 2025 Olympia approaching, he has discussed the show at length and that is headlined by the Men’s Open division.

Nick Walker has gained many headlines with his return coming to the stage — or his potential return. Ray claims that it would not be a surprise to see Walker miss the stage for the third consecutive year.

“We saw Nick Walker for two consecutive years not make it to the stage, and we still have a couple of weeks. It’s not a guarantee that Nick even makes it to the stage. I said that a year ago and it came true.”

Walker missed the 2023 Olympia with a hamstring tear that impacted his prep for the show. He made his return to the stage during the New York Pro in the following season and was crowned champion. Despite his victory, Walker received criticism regarding his physique and there was controversy around the results. He later announced that he would miss the 2024 Olympia as well as he was not prepared to take the stage at his best.

Shawn Ray Comments on Nick Walker’s Potential

Shawn Ray shared his doubts about Nick Walker taking the Olympia stage this year. That does not mean that he doesn’t believe in his physique. In fact, Ray believes that Walker will perform well if he is able to take the stage.

“I don’t want to jinx the guy, but he’s got a lot to do in the next two weeks, and getting through prejudging is going to be one of the biggest obstacles. I believe he’ll be top six.”

Walker has shown a great confidence this year. He won his third New York Pro title, qualifying for the Olympia, and have had his sights set on the show since then. Walker believes that he is among the top competitors in the world and has a chance to win the show. Walker believes that he has what it takes to win the Olympia and this is one of many possibilities of the event.

“Anything is possible when you talk about the Olympia. Some people rise to the occasion. Other, they shrink.”
