Dorian Yates Discusses Dumbbell Shoulder Press
Dorian Yates shared a video performing the exercise and showing off the proper technique to focus on shoulders.
“Push up and in and the dumbbells are probably going to get near to each other. And we come down and we go up and in. We’re not going like with a barbell, all the way straight because that last bit is, as you can see, mainly triceps.”
It is important not to involve triceps here, despite it being easy on the way down. This can be done by focusing on that up-and-in movement.
“Let’s try to keep the tension on up two-thirds of the way and back down again. Up and it’s not straight. It’s up and in and this way you have more control as well.”
Dorian Yates has shared different health updates following his hip surgery. At the 11-week mark, he shared his pleasure with how rehab and recovery was progressing.
“11 weeks after my surgery and progressing nicely here with my rehab. My movement and balance is improving each day and in 4 weeks I reckon, I’ll be back in the gym training and doing what I love.”
Dorian Yates has worked his way back to the gym and continues to train at a high level in retirement. He is an influential voice in the sport of bodybuilding and one that knows how to build the best physique possible.
