Flex Lewis Details His Thoughts and Reflects on Career Ahead of Open Bodybuilding Debut

Flex Lewis is pumped up for his Open Bodybuilding debut.

There’s no doubt about it, James “Flex” Lewis is one of the best bodybuilders to ever step on stage in recent years. Dominating the competition in the 212 Division, Flex Lewis has shown time and again that he has the heart and physique of a champion. But nothing was given to the Welsh bodybuilder. In order to become a seven-time 212 Mr. Olympia champion, Flex Lewis had to put in work and sacrifice. As the old adage says, respect isn’t given, it’s earned, and Flex Lewis has done just that. There isn’t a bodybuilding competitor or fan who doesn’t have great respect for the Welsh powerhouse.

Ahead of Flex Lewis’s Open Bodybuilding debut at the 2020 Olympia, Flex appears to be in a reflective headspace. It took a lot of hours in the gym and a ton of sacrifice to get to this point in his career. That hasn’t been lost on the multiple-time world champion.

Flex Lewis shared his thoughts in a recent post to his social media.

“Only those close enough to me know my REAL path to this point.

“September 2003 I competed in my first show “The Mr Wales” held at the Princesses Royal theatre, Port Talbot in my country of Wales, it was were I met Neil “Yoda” Hill for the first time.

“This has been a 17 [years] of persistence, consistency, and dedication to my craft. I made the decision that in order to better my and my family’s life I had to make the move to America at 22.

“I have lost out on many things in order to see my face on this poster, but let me make it clear I am not here to take part, every man has there own story and I will NEVER shit on another mans dreams.

I am only following what I believe is mine!”

You can tell Flex Lewis is passionate and fired up for this debut. But will he be able to fend off the returning Phil Heath and 2019 Olympia champion Brandon Curry? Only time will tell.

Do you think Flex Lewis can win the 2020 Mr. Olympia?
