‘No Protein Left Behind’ – Nick Walker Consumed 5,760 Calories as he Closes in on 2026 Mr. Olympia
Nick Walker is deep into his 2026 Mr. Olympia preparation, but that doesn’t mean “The Mutant” is surviving on tiny portions.
Just 17 days out from bodybuilding’s biggest competition, Walker shared a full day of eating that totaled an enormous 5,760 calories and 950 grams of carbohydrates.
The massive intake wasn’t Walker’s everyday contest-prep diet. Instead, it was a planned high-carb day designed around a demanding leg workout as Walker and his team continue manipulating his food heading toward the Olympia.
Across six meals, Walker consumed 327 grams of protein, 950 grams of carbohydrates and 77 grams of fat.
And one meal alone included 500 grams of sushi rice, which “The Mutant” said was the most rice he could remember eating at one time during his bodybuilding career.
Nick Walker’s 5,760-Calorie High-Carb Day
Walker kept his food selection relatively simple despite the massive amount of carbohydrates.
His six meals were primarily built around cream of rice, sushi rice, chicken, bananas and peanut butter, with salt and cinnamon added throughout the day.
Here’s how Walker’s high day broke down:
- Meal 1: Elev8 Cream of Rice, Mega Fit chicken, banana, peanut butter, salt and ground cinnamon
- Meal 2 (Pre-Workout): Elev8 Cream of Rice, Mega Fit chicken, banana, peanut butter, salt and ground cinnamon
- Meal 3 (Post-Workout): 500 grams sushi rice, Mega Fit chicken, banana, salt and ground cinnamon
- Meal 4: Elev8 Cream of Rice, Mega Fit chicken, peanut butter, salt and ground cinnamon
- Meal 5: Mega Fit chicken, rice, banana, peanut butter, salt and ground cinnamon
- Meal 6: Sushi rice, Mega Fit chicken, peanut butter and vegetables
Walker made it clear early in the day that this was not a typical amount of food for this stage of his preparation.
“We’ll eat this, and probably in about an hour, an hour and 15, we’ll go smash some legs,” Walker said before training. “High, high carb day.”
The final totals were massive:
- Calories: 5,760
- Protein: 327 grams
- Carbohydrates: 950 grams
- Fat: 77 grams
Walker Eats 500 Grams of Rice After Leg Workout
The biggest meal came immediately following Walker’s leg session.
For Meal 3, Walker sat down to 500 grams of sushi rice, chicken and a banana.
Even for a 300-pound professional bodybuilder accustomed to eating enormous quantities of food, the serving caught Walker’s attention.
“This is probably the most rice I have eaten in my entire career of bodybuilding,” Walker said.
Despite the quantity, contest-prep hunger apparently made getting through it considerably easier.
“It’ll be gone in probably two minutes,” he added. “It’s really not that much when you’re hungry, which is cool.”
Walker continued loading carbohydrates throughout the remainder of the day, alternating between cream of rice and regular or sushi rice.
He also explained that he deliberately keeps his cream of rice plain during prep rather than using heavily flavored varieties.
“When I am in prep, even in the off-season, I use pretty much plain cream of rice,” Walker explained. “I don’t use a lot of the flavored stuff.”
‘The Mutant’ Is Closing In on Another Olympia Title Shot
The huge high day comes during an important stretch of Walker’s Olympia preparation.
Generation Iron recently covered Walker’s regular off-day diet, where his food intake had been brought considerably lower. This new 5,760-calorie day shows the other side of his current nutrition strategy, with carbohydrates temporarily pushed dramatically higher around a demanding training session.
Walker has also acknowledged that his meals have become increasingly repetitive.
“Every meal is the same at this point,” he joked.
That repetition is intentional. With the Olympia approaching, Walker is sticking with easily controlled foods while his team monitors his condition and makes adjustments.
The stakes are particularly high after Walker finished sixth at the 2025 Mr. Olympia. He has since spoken openly about believing he mistimed his peak and looked better before stepping onstage than he did under the Olympia lights.
His 2026 season has put him back into the championship conversation, and seven-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath recently said Walker has what it takes to win the Sandow if he can bring his best package and maintain it across both days of competition.
Walker will face defending champion Derek Lunsford, former champion Samson Dauda, Andrew Jacked and the rest of a loaded Men’s Open field when the 2026 Mr. Olympia takes place Sept. 24-27 in Las Vegas.
