Phil Heath will now be the sixth Olympia champion to be inducted.

Phil Heath shared that he will be inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2024. The bodybuilding legend took to Instagram to share his announcement on Monday.

Heath will be the sixth Olympia champion to be inducted joining Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ronnie Coleman, Franco Columbu, Lee Haney, and most recently Jay Cutler.

Heath totaled seven Olympia titles over the course of his career. In 2020, he stepped on stage for the final time but has been active in the gym ever since. During the 2020 show, Heath finished third and fans have been waiting for his return ever since. His seven titles is second all-time to Ronnie Coleman and Lee Haney, who are tied at the top for eight. Many wonder if Heath would return in hopes of matching this all-time record.

The International Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization that honors the best athletes around the world that have made a major impact in their sport. When thinking about the sport of bodybuilding over the years, Heath fits into this mold.

At the end of his caption, Phil Heath stated: “This is just the beginning. Onward and upward.” Of course, some may read into this and assume that Heath will return to the stage in 2024 to celebrate his induction into this prestigious club. Recently, Heath shut down the idea of a return in 2023 but left the option open moving forward.

Born and raised in Seattle, WA, Heath is a natural-born athlete who played basketball on his high school’s varsity team. After earning a prestigious athletic scholarship to the University of Denver, Heath double-majored in Information Technology and Business Administration while playing point guard for the Pioneers. He credits his time spent playing Division 1-A Men’s basketball with shaping his identity and approach to bodybuilding. It was also during this time that he earned his nickname “The Gift,” referring to his innate talent for all things sports and athletics, not to mention even as a college athlete, Phil’s genetics for bodybuilding showed through.

The former Olympia legend has maintained an impressive physique in retirement. He continues to be in championship shape despite not making a return to the stage just yet. For now, he will enjoy this news as he adds another accolade to what already is one of the best careers of all-time in bodybuilding.
