Bodybuilder Wesley Vissers shared his competition plans before his latest chest and triceps workout.
Wesley Vissers took a major step back during the 2024 Olympia. He has acknowledge the problems and is back in the gym working to improve. Recently, Vissers shared a chest and triceps workout and spoke on his plans to compete at the 2025 Arnold Classic.
“What is the reason behind this training camp? Well, my next competition has become clear. It will become the Arnold Classic so we’re going to do the Arnold Classic in Ohio again. It is going to be me defending my title.”
Vissers earned his Pro Card in 2017 and won Mr. Golden Era that same year. Aside from that, he also has been on the Mr. Olympia stage on several different occasions, and being on that stage is one of the highest honors in the sport of bodybuilding. Standing tall at 6’2” and weighing from 216 lbs to 234 lbs, the physique that Vissers has crafted has earned him a lot of respect and popularity in the bodybuilding world.
Vissers defeated Ramon Dino at the 2024 Arnold Classic, which was considered a major upset at the time, but fell down the scorecard at the Olympia. Now, he will return to defend his title in Columbus come March.
Wesley Vissers Chest & Triceps Workout
This workout consisted of five different workouts:
- Chest Press Machine
- Incline Smith Machine Bench Press
- Cable Crossovers
- Single-Arm Cable Side Lateral Raise
- Single-Arm Overhead Cable Tricep Extension
Chest Press Machine
Vissers has always preached getting a good stretch in the muscle when performing different exercises. This was apparent in his first exercise of the day on the chest press machine.
“Kind of slowing down on the eccentric motion, which means the motion to get the back to make sure I get a full stretch. You get the most stimulus in the chest this way and you get the most range of motion.”
Incline Smith Machine Bench Press
The second exercise of the session was the incline bench press on the smith machine. Vissers worked to hit his upper chest with this movement. It is important for the bodybuilder to hit different parts of the chest in different ways.
“You always want to hit those from different angles needed to hit those different compartments. At least one movement for the lower or complete chest and one movement, also specifically for upper chest.”

Cable Crossovers
Cable crossovers was next on the list and Vissers makes sure to get as close to the machine as possible. This helps stretch the chest and takes stress off shoulders.
“If I would be standing very close to where the cable pulleys are, you can imagine that the cables would be pulling me more to the side, which would not be a stretch on the chest but more on the delts or front delt area. So right now, when you look at the cables, they are pulling me to the back in the way that the chest wants to move.”
Single-Arm Cable Side Lateral Raise
Wesley Vissers moved onto cable side lateral raises. He prefers to use cables to perform this movement rather than dumbbells.
“If you look at my shoulders closely, you can see the tension on the shoulders remains there the whole time. That is a big difference compared to just standing side lateral raises with a dumbbell.”
Single-Arm Overhead Cable Tricep Extension
The final workout of the session was the overhead cable extension. Vissers explained why he chose to use cables once again rather than pushdowns.
“Now, I’m doing an overhead variation first because in my front-double bicep pose for example, or in the side chest pose, the most mass in your arm is represented by the long head of the triceps.”
