2026 Portugal Pro Preview: Behrouz Tabani Still Awaits Visa as Jordan Hutchinson and James Hollingshead Battle for Olympia Qualification
The 2026 Portugal Pro, officially the Mr. Big Evolution Pro, is shaping up to be one of the final major Olympia qualifiers of the season. However, the biggest storyline entering the weekend has nothing to do with posing or predictions. It remains the uncertain status of Behrouz Tabani, who, as of midweek, was still waiting on a travel visa that could determine whether he competes at all.
If Tabani is unable to make the trip, the spotlight shifts to a fascinating showdown between Jordan Hutchinson and James Hollingshead, two proven Open bodybuilders looking to punch their ticket to the 2026 Mr. Olympia.
Portugal Pro Event Information
Event: 2026 Portugal Pro (Mr. Big Evolution Pro)
Promoter: Mr. Big Evolution

Olympia Qualification: Winner qualifies for the 2026 Mr. Olympia if not already qualified. Athletes who have already secured Olympia qualification do not earn an additional qualification, meaning the spot does not pass down to the next finisher.
Behrouz Tabani’s Visa Saga Continues
Tabani has become one of the sport’s most frustrating stories this season. The Iranian standout has already missed multiple opportunities due to visa complications despite preparing for each contest.
After previously targeting the Empro Classic and FLEX Weekend Italy Pro, Portugal appeared to be another opportunity to secure Olympia qualification. However, with athlete check-ins rapidly approaching, there was still no confirmation that his visa had been approved.
Should he miss Portugal, it would mark another full contest prep without stepping onstage, despite maintaining contest-ready conditioning throughout the summer.
With only a handful of Olympia qualifiers remaining before the qualification deadline, Tabani’s options are becoming increasingly limited. If travel issues continue, the Dubai Pro, where he has competed previously, could become his next realistic target, although it would count toward 2027 Olympia qualification rather than this year’s event.
Jordan Hutchinson Looks to Bounce Back
If Tabani is unable to compete, many eyes will turn toward Jordan Hutchinson, who enters Portugal as one of the favorites.
Hutchinson is coming off a competitive showing at the FLEX Weekend Italy Pro, where he battled against a strong lineup but fell short of victory. While some viewed the result as disappointing, it came against one of the deepest fields of the European season.
His résumé still speaks for itself. Hutchinson captured both the 2025 Tampa Pro and 2025 Texas Pro, proving he can win high-level Open contests against elite competition.
With Olympia qualification still on the line, Portugal presents another opportunity for Hutchinson to return to the winner’s circle.
James Hollingshead Appears to Be Returning to Form
Perhaps the most intriguing physique update heading into Portugal belongs to James Hollingshead.
Recent training photos suggest the British veteran has regained much of the trademark density, fullness, and granite conditioning that previously made him one of Europe’s most dangerous Open competitors.
That represents a notable shift from 2025, when Hollingshead never quite looked like his best version and saw his placings suffer across several contests.
Some of his notable 2025 results included:
- Arnold Classic: 8th
- Detroit Pro: 3rd
- British Grand Prix: 5th
- Tsunami Pro: 6th
- Japan Pro: 8th
If the improvements seen during his latest peak translate to the stage, Hollingshead could be a legitimate contender for the title and build valuable momentum heading into a stacked Tampa Pro later this summer.
Several Dangerous Dark Horses Enter Portugal
While Hutchinson and Hollingshead headline much of the discussion, the Portugal Pro field features several athletes capable of shaking up the standings.
Tim Budesheim brings tremendous muscle density and conditioning and remains one of Europe’s most respected Open competitors. Although he struggled to break through with a victory last season, his experience makes him a legitimate threat.
Meanwhile, Vladyslav Sukhoruchko returns after competing at the FLEX Weekend Italy Pro. The Ukrainian standout possesses tremendous size, though he’ll be looking to improve on last week’s placing with a sharper overall package.
Portugal Pro Preview
As things currently stand, the biggest question surrounding the Portugal Pro isn’t who will win, it’s whether Behrouz Tabani will even be allowed to compete.
If his visa is approved in time, Tabani immediately becomes one of the favorites to earn Olympia qualification. If not, the battle between Jordan Hutchinson and James Hollingshead could become one of the most compelling Open contests of the European season, with both athletes seeking a crucial victory as the road to the 2026 Mr. Olympia enters its final stretch.
