2022 Mr. Olympia runner-up Derek Lunsford shared a crazy physique transformation from early in his career.

Derek Lunsford has quickly turned into one of the top competitors in the Olympia Men’s Open division. He finished as the runner-up in his first competition, which just happened to be the Olympia. Last week, Lunsford showed off his insane physique transformation from early in his career.

The 2023 Mr Olympia competitor, Lunsford burst onto the scene in 2017 when he was able to win the Tampa Pro and earn his first qualification to the Olympia in Men’s 212. He continued to climb up the rankings in the division over the next four years before winning his first Olympia in 2021. From there, Lunsford continued to improve his physique with a different goal in mind.

Lunsford put on incredible size last year and showed it off during the 2022 Pittsburgh Pro. He appeared as a guest poser at the event and it was clear that his days in 212 were over. Lunsford was not qualified in Men’s Open but received a special invitation following his 212 victory in 2021. Over the course of the year, it was clear that Lunsford did what he needed to do in order to compete in the biggest division.

After seeing his physique transformation, it is also clear that Lunsford knows what it takes to become one of the best in the world.

Lunsford continued to make improvements following the Pittsburgh Pro last year. He brought a championship physique to the Olympia and many thought that he had a chance to win during prejudging. It turns out that he was as close as possible.

Lunsford was topped by only Hadi Choopan and finished as the runner-up. This was not only his first Olympia, but his first competition overall in Men’s Open. Lunsford appeared as a guest poser once again during the 2023 Pittsburgh Pro and showed that he will once again be a contender on the biggest stage.

Derek Lunsford has made the necessary transformation needed to become one of the best in the world. At the end of 2023, he will attempt to bring home the biggest title in the sport of bodybuilding.
