Bodybuilding Coach Hany Rambod got two of his top men’s open competitors together for a back day.
The Men’s Open Bodybuilding division is extremely deep heading into the 2023 Olympia. Last year, Hadi Choopan and Derek Lunsford finished in the top two spots on the scorecard and could be the favorites once again. Recently, the two pro bodybuilders got together for a back workout led by coach Hany Rambod.
In December of 2022, Choopan was able to reach the top of the scorecards during the biggest competition of the year in professional bodybuilding, the Mr. Olympia. This came after many close calls, including a third-place finish in 2021 Olympia. Over the years, Choopan has impressed with his incredible conditioning and muscular symmetry within his physique. As the division gets bigger and better, Choopan seems to be doing the same.
The Olympia in three weeks will be the second Men’s Open show for Lunsford. He is a former Men’s 212 Olympia champion and put on incredible amounts of muscle mass after his victory in 2021 Men’s 212 Division. Last summer, it was up in the air whether Lunsford would receive a special invitation to compete in Men’s Open. By that time, he was too big to return to 212. He received the invitation and skyrocketed into the runner-up spot behind Choopan.
The division continues to be the highlight of the show and these two competitors could find themselves at the top once again.
Hadi Chopan & Derek Lunsford Together For Workout
Hany Rambod shared the post to Instagram. He was able to get together Hadi Choopan and Derek Lunsford together for a back workout at Evogen Nutrition in Irving, TX. Rambod had two Olympia champions and elite competitors in Men’s Open present but commented on how Chris Bumstead, the reigning Classic Physique Mr. Olympia champ was the only one missing.
“Back Training at @evogennutrition Gym with @hadi_choopan and @dereklunsford_ at 3.5 Weeks Out from the @mrolympiallc ????????
Missing @cbum”

Both Lunsford and Choopan took to the comments section:
“All for one and one for all ❤️,” Choopan commented.
“24 DAYS!!! ⭕️????,” Lunsford said.
Another battle between Hadi Choopan and Derek Lunsford could be coming once again in just three weeks, even though they are training under the same guidance, only one person can be the champion. Nick Walker and Samson Dauda are also expected to be in the mix competing for a championships. And of course, former champ Brandon Curry.
The Men’s Open division is deep and competitive up and down the roster but these two remain at the top until proven otherwise. The 2023 Olympia has a chance to outdo the great showing that it had last year.
