Samson Dauda to Compete at Europa Pro Just 11 Days Before 2026 Mr. Olympia

Samson Dauda will use the Europa Pro as a test run for his Olympia peak

Samson Dauda is making a surprising addition to his schedule less than three weeks before the 2026 Mr. Olympia.

Dauda confirmed that he will compete at the upcoming Europa Pro in Germany, scheduled just 11 days before the Olympia begins Sept. 24 in Las Vegas. Rather than treating the contest as another title chase, “The Nigerian Lion” plans to use it as a trial run for his peak week.

The strategy isn’t unprecedented for Dauda. In fact, he used a remarkably similar approach during the most successful season of his career.

In 2024, Dauda won the France Pro approximately two weeks before stepping onto the Olympia stage. He then arrived in Las Vegas at his best and defeated Hadi Choopan and Derek Lunsford to become Mr. Olympia.

Now, after a disappointing fourth-place finish in 2025, Dauda is going back to the formula that helped him win his lone Sandow Trophy.

Samson Dauda Doesn’t Want to Enter Olympia Peak Week ‘Blind’

Dauda revealed his decision in a Sept. 6 YouTube video, confirming that the Europa Pro will serve as his warm-up show.

“Instead of saying we are three weeks out, we are officially one week out from Germany,” Dauda said. “Are you going to do a warm-up show? I’ve been getting bombarded with this constantly. The answer to this is officially yes, I will be doing a warm-up show.”

The primary motivation is information.

Dauda believes his physique has changed considerably since last season, and his body has already responded differently than expected during this preparation. At points, he and his wife and coach, Mel, have been forced to adjust the plan because he progressed so quickly.

That makes testing his peak before Olympia particularly valuable.

“When it comes to peak week, it’s extremely difficult to go into peak week blind.”

Instead of making every adjustment for the first time during Olympia week, the Europa Pro gives Team Dauda an opportunity to see how his body reacts under actual contest conditions.

“It gives us a chance to not just throw it all on the cards on this one moment at Olympia for 20 minutes; you have to nail it or that’s the end…This way we get a chance to try something out on that high-stress situation and see how my body responds.”

Dauda added that Mel already has an excellent understanding of how to peak him, but the extra show should provide confirmation that his body is still responding as expected.

Dauda Looks to Avoid Repeat of 2025 Olympia

The experiment becomes particularly interesting considering what happened one year ago.

After reaching the pinnacle of bodybuilding in 2024, Dauda entered the 2025 Olympia determined to display even sharper conditioning… but slipped to fourth place as Lunsford reclaimed the Sandow.

Dauda later attempted to rebound at the Prague Pro but lost to Martin Fitzwater.

He has since taken an extended offseason, and the Europa Pro will mark his first competition in nearly a year.

That stage time is another reason Dauda wants the warm-up show.

“Even for me, being onstage and working on my confidence of being onstage again, because it’s been 12 months,” he explained.

Dauda said that no matter how much a bodybuilder practices posing and presentation beforehand, returning to an actual competitive stage can feel dramatically different.

“You go onstage for the first time, and it almost becomes a blur.”

Can Dauda Repeat His 2024 Formula?

Competing 11 days before the Olympia carries obvious risks. Dauda has to peak for Germany, recover and then potentially manipulate his physique again for the biggest contest of the season.

But there is also a compelling precedent.

Dauda’s 2024 France Pro appearance gave his team valuable information immediately before the Olympia, and the result was the best package of his career and his first Sandow.

This year, conditioning remains one of the biggest questions surrounding the former champion. Dauda has displayed enormous size throughout his preparation, while former Mr. Olympia Samir Bannout recently argued that if his upper body matches the shredded condition of his legs, nobody will beat him.

The Europa Pro should provide the first real answer.

Rather than waiting until Olympia prejudging to discover whether his peak-week strategy worked, Dauda will get a full-scale dress rehearsal in Germany. Eleven days later, he will attempt to use what he learns to reclaim the Mr. Olympia title.
